I have also had the opportunity to try one of these types of corsets on for a short period.  It was tight and restrictive, but I think with practice, I could have gotten used to it.  It did make the dress look much better on me, however.  Miss Brenda  gave the outfit to her friend, so I never got another chance to try it.

True, but corsets actually had an important function, they gave back support to women when they were lifting heavy iron cook pots etc. etc.
